DESCENDANTS OF ASAPH Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music. Lyrics
SNAKEBITE BLUES Got my share of bitter sorrows Suffered wounds without a cause Tarried long beside the bottle In return got a fool's applause Its hard to kick the habit Once you crave the booze Do you need some advice? You'll do well to heed the tale Of the snakebite blues Took a stroll down to the drugstore Put a quarter in the slot Feel how the noose gets even tighter As the hangman ties the knot A slave bound to his master Never gets to choose If you'll take my advice You'll do well to heed the tale Of the snakebite blues Sure, the taste is smooth and easy Soon your sorrows start to pale But best beware this sweet libation Carries a sting within it's tail Its the pathway to destruction With everything to lose The devil shows no mercy When the sweet red mocker comes To claim his dues

Excellent guitar work!! The lyrics are poignant and easy on the tongue. The fact that the rhythm section is obviously a drum machine is no bother. I gave 5 stars for the songs where the guitar work was particularly good. In my opinion, the main thing holding most of your songs back is the vocal quality. I suggest re-recording the songs with a full band and new vocals. Perhaps singing with more of a brogue or something might make it more appealing on some songs or even allowing someone else to do the singing here and there might be nice. All of the songs are really good but they need a little push to make them top of the line.
